Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

The incumbent serves as a first line supervisor for the Building, Utilities, and Grounds, work groups with overall responsibility for the management and coordination of all work related to the cleaning, maintenance, repair, alteration and installation services on all buildings, building systems, utilities, structures, and property within Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. The incumbent is further responsible for supporting maintenance activities related to both Roads and Trails operations, including snow removal, special events and other needs that arise. Incumbent must be able to obtain, and maintain, appropriate Colorado Water and Wastewater Operator licenses, as well as a Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's License. Serves as a Project Inspector or Contracting Officers Representative for contracts, and periodically as acting Chief of Facility Management. The incumbent reports to the Chief of Facility Management concerning all ongoing and planned projects or proposals for the Buildings and Utilities Branch. Because of the diversity in trades of work supervised and the diversity of systems and applications managed, the incumbent must be familiar with the maintenance and operation of HVAC systems, building control systems, fire protection systems, electrical systems (high and low voltage), photo-voltaic systems, plumbing (sewage and potable water systems), solar and boiler fired radiant hot water heating systems, masonry, and carpentry equipment. In addition, due to the rural location, age, and designs of the systems being maintained, the incumbent must be constantly alert for potential failures such as power outages or water leaks, and must have a contingency plan to cover each of these emergencies to protect park facilities and provide uninterrupted services to visitors and staff.
